PL. LI.	The taking of Antioch is represented in the plate following, as we saw on the first plate on the defeat of Suleiman who came to attack the Crusaders on their route as we have said before. What we particularly notice here is that one of the Turks is dressed like those we saw in the in the preceding plate, and striking his horse with a whip with three cords, fitted with iron or lead balls, the others are mailed like the Crusaders: they will have been afraid as the military habit of the first army of Christians was that they be cut to pieces. The inscription at top is, Vincuntur Parthi, the Parthians were defeated.    In the next picture of the same plate is represented the taking of Antioch by escalade. It shows two ladders set against the wall, & the Crusaders that mount them covered with mail, and some of those within oppose the assailants. One holds a drawn bow, another opposes his shield to those who ascend. At the top of a tower another plays the trumpet to arouse those who sleep; at the bottom is written Antiochia.

La priſe d'Antioche eſt repreſentée dans la Planche ſuivante, ou l'on voit dans le premier tableau la défaite de Soliman qui vint attaquer les Croiſez dans leur route comme nous avons dit ci-devant. Ce qu'on remarque ici de particulier, c'eſt que hors un des Turcs qui eſt vêtu comme ceux qu'on a vûs dans la Planche précedence, & qui frappe ſon cheval d'un foüet à trois cordes, munies de boules de fer ou de plomb ; les autres font maillez comme les Croiſez : ils auront peur-être pris cet habit militaire de cette premiere armée de Chrétiens qu'ils taillerent en pieces. L'inſcription en-haut eſt, Vincuntur Parthi, les Parthes ſont vaincus.    Dans le tableau ſuivant de la même Planche eſt repreſentée la priſe d'Antioche par eſcalade. On y voit deux échelles appliquées contre le mur , & des Croiſez qui montent couverts de mailles ; quelques-uns de ceux de dedans s'oppoſent aux aſſaillans. L'un tient un arc bandé un autre oppoſe ſon bouclier à ceux qui montent. Au haut d'une tour un autre joüe du cor pour éveiller ceux qui dormant ; au bas eſt écrit Antiochia.
