Description : Cette Bible est contemporaine du séjour de saint Louis en Terre sainte et fut probablement réalisée pour lui. La peinture du manuscrit combine la tradition occidentale avec des apports orientaux, notamment byzantins, montrant combien Acre était devenue un creuset culturel au cours de l'occupation croisée. L'importance de la figure de Salomon dans l'enluminure de cette Bible doit certainement être rapportée à l'image véhiculée par le roi saint Louis lui-même. Le texte est l'une des traductions françaises de l'Ancien Testament les plus complètes de cette période ; en cela, la Bible d'Acre marque une étape dans la traduction complète de la Bible en français.

Description: This Bible is a contemporary of St. Louis' stay in the Holy Land and was probably made for him. The painting of the manuscript combines the Western tradition with oriental inputs, including Byzantine, showing how Acre became a cultural melting pot during the Crusader occupation. The importance of the figure of Solomon in the illumination of this Bible must certainly be referring to the image conveyed by king St. Louis himself. The text is one of the French translations of the Old Testament the most comprehensive in that period; in this, the Acre Bible is a milestone in the complete translation of the Bible into French.
