F. 1: Grande miniature, représentant le couronnement de Jean I, roi de Portugal . Bordure de fleurs dans le même style que le frontispice du 1 er volume, avec en outre un cheval gris sellé, et la devise: Mon tour. En bas, écusson d’or (gratté à la partie supérieure) à la croix de gueules accompagnée de seize alerions d’azur et portant un chien pour cimier, ce qui fait croire que le manuscrit provient de Jean de Montmorency, seigneur de Nevel. Incipit (gros caractères): « Je me suiz longuement tenu a parler des besoignes des longtaines marches. Mais les prouchaines quant a present m’ont esté si fresches, si nouvell. et si enclines a ma plaisance que pour ce les ay mis arriere.

F. 1: Large miniature, representing the coronation of John I, King of Portugal. Border of flowers in the same style as the frontispiece of the 1st volume, with in addition a gray pack-horse, and the motto: "Mon tour". At the bottom, gold escutcheon (scratched on the upper part) with the cross Gules accompanied by sixteen azure alerions and bearing a dog as a crest, which suggests that the manuscript comes from Jean de Montmorency, Lord of Nevel.
Starts (large print): “I spent a long time talking about the needs of the long marches. But the Prouchaines as of now have been so fresh, so new. and so inclined to my pleasure that for it they have put them back."

FROISSART'S CHRONICLES
Jean Froissart was an historian of the 14th century who wrote in French. This copy of his Chronicles is a fine example of Flemish miniature art in the Middle Ages. The Chronicles are an important source of information about the Hundred Years War.
FROM EDWARD II TO RICHARD II
This copy of the Chronicles of the historian Jean Froissart is a fine example of Flemish miniature art from the 15th century. Its three volumes are produced on parchment.
Froissart (1337- ca. 1404) worked for the Dukes of Burgundy. In the Chronicles, he describes the European wars from the accession to the throne of Edward II of England (1307) to the death of Richard II (1400).
This manuscript is a combination of history and vibrant decoration. It drew the admiration of the Moretus family, who purchased it in around 1805.
