Missile de multis, quae frustra sparserat, unum
puluere de campi peruersos sumit in usus:
rasile figit humi lignum ac se cuspide uersa
perfodit et calido pulmonem uulnere transit.


The latin captions, although usually present in the illustrated manuscripts, are not part of the poem. Although the caption has Anger (or Wrath) stab herself with a sword (gladio) the artist follows the poem by drawing a spear (cuspide).
