MARENGO for WNLB 14th June 1800 Installation of the Marengo mod for Waterloo: Napoleon's Last Battle. Note: If your operating system is set to the default of not displaying common file extensions, you will not see .exe, .zip or .bmp file extensions. The unusual .bag & .bm2 file extensions should be seen. zip files required: PenModExe.zip GenericPenmodBags1_3.zip or later version MarengoWNLBgraphicsV5.zip MarengoWNLBmainV5.zip AustrianMusic.zip plus Frenchsong02.wav, FrenchSong06.wav, FrenchSong12.wav from the "Penmod sounds & music" download (or see below). Make a copy of your Waterloo folder or make a new installation of WNLB. Rename the folder MarengoWNLB. Unzip all the .zip files in the above order into the MarengoWNLB folder, with "use folder names" and "overwrite existing files" checked and say "yes" to overwriting any files if asked. Add all the .BMP files in the WaterArmy folder to WaterArmy.bag in the graphics folder, using BAGBOY. If you don't have the BAGBOY program, you can download it from Davros' site http://users.chariot.net.au/~mab/zips/units.html Install it by double clicking on bagboy.exe and following the installation wizard prompts. If you have BAGBOY installed, double click on WaterArmy.bag, navigate to the WaterArmy subfolder, select "BMP" in the drop down box, click on the 1st file, scroll to the last, hold down 'shift' and click on the last to select them all. Click 'Open". Close the .bag file. Add all the .BMP files in the WaterAux folder to WaterAux.bag in the graphics folder. Close the .bag file. This will give German voices in the version where the Austrians use the British code. Delete Waterloo.exe. If you have WinXP or later: set the properties (right click) of Penmod.exe to Win98 compatability. There are 2 versions included. One where the Austrians are allowed to use attack columns as well as lines and another where the Austrians are restricted to linear tactics. The campaign number in the waterloo.ini file is "campaign=26' for Marengo with the Austrians as Prussians. The campaign number in the waterloo.ini file is "campaign=28'for Marengo with the Austrians as British. Copy an .ini file from the appropriate sub folder of the ini folder to the MarengoWNLB folder. Run Penmod.exe in the MarengoWNLB folder or make a shortcut on the desktop by right clicking on Penmod.exe, "send to" then "Desktop (create shortcut)". NOTE: Sometimes the Austrian army morale is zero at the start of a scenario. Exit to the scenario menu and try again if this happens.
