To install: Make a copy of your Gettysburg folder and name it SolferinoSMG. Unzip into this with "overwrite files" & "use folder names" checked. If using XP or later, set the properties of lee.exe (right click) to win98 compatability. Run lee.exe or make a shortcut on the desktop by right clicking on lee.exe, "send to" then "Desktop (create shortcut)". When you have had enough Solferino, delete the SolferinoSMG folder & shortcut, no need to restore. Notes: I have made a revamped version of Solferino by Jabo. There are new European buildings, trees, forest ground texture, yellow stone cobbled roads, intro and side choosing screens & pop-up menu screens. I have added some named sites, some of which have associated buildings. Included are 4 sound files for cheers & French & German victory music. I have divided division infantry strengths by the No. of battalions for each unit. The scenarios are basically unchanged. In sub folders are 2 extra sets of French infantry for a future SMA version. They are Guard Grenadiers and Guard Voltigeurs. You can try these out by copying them to the SolferinoSMG folder and overwriting files. The included labels file is for patch 3. V2.1 is version 2 with all files in one package. V2.2 has a new OOB with a scale of 67% of actual numbers. The scenarios are slightly edited and there is a new one to fight the full days action on the northern or southern areas seperately. .dlg files are included so the smaller scenarios can be played as a series with a final total score. The missing graphic for marching Grenadiers is included. The Prussian music file has been replaced with an Austrian one. Some quotes have been included. V2.3 13 July 2010 Austrian artillerymen in brown rather than white. The forces in the half battles have been made more balanced. Blank overview maps have been added. The Austrian infantry have been cleaned up. The French Guard graphics use a new palette. Small videos replace the normal opening videos when you choose 'fight the battle'. More farm compounds added. Graphic for 'the Rock' added. There are soldier graphics of Grenz in Brown & Titler Grenz, in sub folders, to try. 11 Nov 2010 Cavalry repeated as Cavalry Corps in OOB to add cavalry to random games. Buildings in Bldg2.pcx redone with colours from new palette and a few spots of bright blue shadow eliminated. 13 April 2011 Palette for Opening Screens changed to suit XP & latter Windows Colours.
