Joshua and a follower are dressed in the height of fashion with very long surcoats. The one-piece helmets are now round and only one has a nasal. Long-sleeved mail hauberks are worn beneath the surcoats, one of which has horizontal heraldic stripes (C). The mittens of Joshua's hauberk (A and B) appear to be of a transitional type in which the fingers and thumbs are unarmoured, protruding through slits in the glove.
