Historical Sketch
The Regiment mobilized The Canadian Grenadier Guards, C.A.S.F. on 24 May 1940. It was converted to armour and redesignated 22nd Armoured Regiment (The Canadian Grenadier Guards) on 26 January 1942. It embarked for the UK as the second senior regiment of 4th Armoured Brigade, 4th Canadian Armoured Division, on 25 September 1942. After the reorganization of the armoured divisions, it remained as a regular armoured regiment in 4th Armoured Brigade. The Regiment landed in Normandy on 26 July 1944 and fought throughout the campaign in North-West Europe.
