MAC 1934

Development

The French used the British Lewis and Vickers machine-guns in fixed and flexible mounts until 1935. In 1934 the Manufacture d'Armes de Chatellerault (MAC) begin the development of the MAC 1934 machine-gun. The operating methode was gas operation with feed from a drum magazine (MAC 1934) or belt (MAC 1934 M39). The ball type of ammunition was used. It entered service in 1935 and was withdrawn in the late 1940s.

Applications

The MAC 1934 was installed in the Morane-Saulnier M.S. 406 fighter and the Potez 633 B2 bomber.

The MAC 1934 M39 was installed in the Bloch MB-152 and the Dewoitine D.520 fighters and the Sud-Est LeO 451 B4 bomber.
