This is RVinceD's Eltham Landing, Peninsula Campaign, 1862. It has a detailed to-scale map, new buildings, trees etc, and historical & speculative scenarios. I have added Randomization Lines to give alternate setups. Opening menu screens added 18 September 2010. A power point file: Eltham Scenario Concepts.ppt is included in the zip. Please post any comments and requests and find more at the Gettysburg Online Society Forum: http://mattslow.proboards.com/ To install: (unless you are short of hard disk space) make a copy of your Gettysburg folder and rename it as ElthamLanding. Unzip into the ElthamLanding folder with "Use Folder Names" and "Overwrite Existing Files" checked. When you have had enough Eltham Landing, delete the ElthamLanding folder & shortcut, no need to restore. Graeme http://warfare.gq/smx/SMG.htm ************************************************************************************* From RVinceD's design notes: Franklin's division is sent by transport to West Point (where the Pamunkey meets the York River) to secure a supply base and flank Johnston. Johnston continues his retrograde, in hopes to draw the enemy to a place of battle in the open plains. At this point, it is clear that RE Lee was in error to want to hold the Yorktown defense lines. True, McClellan was facing them but the flanking movement up the river appears to not have been anticipated by Lee. McClellan's cavalry aggressively pursues Johnston and then lets up near Barhamsville. Franklin lands at Eltham's Landing and causes Johnston to turn abruptly around and attack him. Franklin landed on the 6th and built defensive positions instead of taking the initiative to halt Johnston. This gave Johnston the time to concentrate his units near Barhamsville and attack Franklin. What if McClellan reorganized and supplied his units sooner where infantry divisions were also involved in the pursuit? What if Franklin would have attacked the day earlier? What if Johnston was unaware of Franklin's landing at Eltham? True North is SMG North-West
