This is RVinceD's Gaines' Mill/1st Cold Harbor/Chickahominy, Peninsula Campaign, 1862. It has a detailed to-scale map, new buildings, trees etc and 5 historical & 1 speculative scenarios. I have added Randomization Lines to give alternate setups: opening screens so that you will at least know what is installed; and .dlg and honours files to allow playing the historical scenarios as a series with honours for your battle flag. The opening videos for Gettysburg are replaced by very short files to eliminate them. Gaines' Mill is the 3rd day of the "Seven Days". Please post any comments and requests and find more at the Gettysburg Online Society Forum: http://mattslow.proboards.com/ To install: (unless you are short of hard disk space) make a copy of your Gettysburg folder and rename it as "GainesMill". Unzip into the GainesMill folder with "Use Folder Names" and "Overwrite Existing Files" checked. Make a shortcut on the desktop by right clicking on lee.exe, "send to" then "Desktop (create shortcut)". When you have had enough Gaines' Mill, delete the GainesMill folder & shortcut, no need to restore. Graeme http://smgettysburg.webs.com/SMG.htm ************************************************************************************* From RVinceD's design notes: GAINES' MILL June 27th; Day 3 of 7 Days Battle Porter was able to escape the clutches of Jackson and AP Hill and, using rear guards to slow the enemy advance, found a strong defensive line east of Gaines' Mill. AP Hill, ever the hot head, races after him. DH Hill joins up with Jackson who gets lost. DH Hill eventually leads Jackson's column to arrive at Old Cold Harbor from the north. Longstreet, who came behind DH Hill, follows the river road towards Gaines' Mill. AP Hill attacks alone again. Longstreet watches but is eventually ordered to make a feint towards the enemy left flank. His diversion eventually turns into an all out attack. DH Hill and Jackson are sitting outside Cold Harbor under the belief that AP Hill was driving the enemy toward them into a trap. AP Hill is stalled. DH Hill then advances and chips away on the Union right flank. Hood's brigade takes over for AP Hill and finally punches through the lines. Slocum (Franklin's corps) and Richardson (Sumner's corps) re-cross the river again to bring aid to Porter. Nightfall causes the end of the battle.
