A great crowd of people in Paris were suffering from St Martial’s fire. They had themselves carried in front of the altar of the Virgin and prayed to her.
While they were praying, the Virgin Mary came down through the window on a ray of light.
She began to walk amongst the sick, making the sign of the cross and saying, “Be healed….”
The people inside were healed at once, and their hands and feet were free of pain. But people waiting outside still suffered.
The leg of one of the men had been so inflamed that he had cut it off and thrown it in the river. His other leg also “burned more fiercely than a lantern.”
The Virgin healed him and he asked her to restore his missing limb. She made his leg whole again.
