A monk always fell to his knees and kissed the ground when the Virgin’s name was mentioned.
He began to age and his limbs grew weak. When he fell to the ground, he could no longer get up again. The abbot instructed two other monks to watch over and assist the elderly one.
One day, when he was kneeling alone, the old monk fell to the ground. He called on the Virgin to help him.
The Virgin raised him up and told him that if he kissed the altar his old age would disappear.
The monk kissed the altar cloth and his youth was restored. He looked like a man of twenty and the abbot and the monks did not recognise him.
The Virgin made the monks recognise him so that word of her compassion would be spread.
