| All provincial militia units wore uniforms of the same colour: bright white cloth; red, round cuffs and turnbacks. The uniform buttons were inscribed with the name of the province of origin. The figure represents a sub-lieutenant which is denoted by wearing the gorget (his grade is indicated by the epaulet on the left shoulder) in service uniform. His regulation sabre is longer and straighter than that of the rank & file. | This 2nd picture shows a sergeant of the fusiliers of this regiment. His grade is indicated by the epaulet on his right shoulder, the facing colour. He wears a bicorne hat of the pre-war style, and regulation gaiters over his shoes. At his side he has the infantry bayonet and sabre. | A grenadier of the provincial militia units, wearing the distinctive bearskin. The bearskin is different from the that of the line units. It is lower, has no hanging on the back and does not have any grenade, although there are two gold cords. |
